After a detail history of your current symptoms and previous health history, we will begin with a detailed chiropractic examination to find out what is causing your back pain. We evaluate your spine, joints, muscles and nerves, paying particular attention to how you are standing and moving. We locate areas where perhaps you have lost some motion and are creating a situation where different muscles have to adapt and perhaps become overworked.
Our goal is to locate these areas that are not moving correctly and to restore the proper posture, balance and motion to those areas through adjustments in your spine or joints. We will also suggest home exercise which will assist in your recovery as well as prevent re-injury.
After a detailed history or your current symptoms and previous health history, we start with a detailed chiropractic examination paying particular attention to how you hold your head in relation to your shoulders and the rest of your body. This may be causing your neck pain. Since we are constantly looking down whether we are working at a computer or electronic device, reading or just sitting driving or watching TV; we have a tendency to fall into a forward head posture.
A normal cervical posture of your head and ear being on top of your shoulders is vital to your entire health, because this part of your cervical spine protects your spinal cord. Your brain is the super computer that controls your entire body and it transmits these neural messages via your spinal cord.
Abnormal position of the vertebrae in this area or loss of the normal cervical curvature can affect these messages and your health. Through chiropractic treatments, exercise, and postural training we begin to restore your normal cervical posture and normal range of motion, allowing you to return to a better state of health.
Headaches are one of the most common reasons for visiting a chiropractor. Headaches can vary from occasional, some frequent, some are dull and throbbing, and some can cause debilitating pain and nausea. Research shows that spinal manipulation – the primary form of care provided by doctors of chiropractic – may be the most effective and cost effective option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck.
Headaches have many causes, or “triggers.” These may include foods, environmental stimuli (noises, lights, stress, etc.) and/or behaviors (insomnia, excessive exercise, blood sugar changes, grinding your teeth, etc.). No matter the type of headache or headache trigger, muscle tension in the head and neck are common findings in all types of headache complaints.
Spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments help to improve spinal function and alleviate the stress on your symptoms. We also offer advice on nutrition, posture, ergonomics (work posture), exercises and relaxation techniques to assist in the treatment of headache complaints, working toward a goal of an optimal functioning spine equals optimal health.
